Hip Straddle

As baby grows bigger and stronger (usually into the second half of the first year) you will feel more comfortable carrying him on your hip. Put your Rosado Sling on and position baby sitting on the bottom padded rail so the sling extends from the back of the knees up around baby’s back. Arms can be tucked in or left out, depending on what you and baby want at the moment. Hold baby a little higher than you want him to end up so there is room for settling. Baby should bend at the knees so that his bottom is lower than the edge of the sling – This is what "anchors" baby in and keeps him in the sling securely. Tighten the top rail to a comfortable closeness.

Very often a child might get sleepy and fall asleep there. You can easily loosen the top padded rail of the sling and lay baby down into the Cradle Carry position. With toddlers, you can also move the child around to your back from the Hip Straddle position. One way to do this is to scoot him to the back by lifting your arm and rotating it over to the front. Or you can lift baby and the sling with one hand while pulling the sling rings and the pillow to the front of you. You may want a helper the first time you try this. As you can see from this photo a rather large child can be comfortably accommodated in a Rosado Sling. It is not usually necessary to purchase different sized slings as baby grows. You may want more than one sling for more than one caregiver using the sling, especially if the caregivers are very different sizes, or for more than one color option.

The natural touching of the child is evident in each of these photos, The adult chooses to keep that gentle reassuring hand on the child even though the Rosado Sling is completely supporting the weight of the child.
