Caring for your sling

Lets start with the different parts of the Rosado Sling. The shoulder pad or Pillow will always sit on your shoulder, either shoulder is fine. The rings hold the sling closed and are to be in the front of your shoulder where you can reach them. The tail is sewn together and works as a handle to adjust the sling and keep the fabric in position.  There are padded rails on either side of the pouch they are there to cushion the baby and to make the sling more comfortable for you. Look at the photos on the bottom of this page and you will see the pillow sleeve, where the padded rails are folded and held together,  so it is easy to put on and comfortable to wear.

Your Rosado Sling will become one of you most used tools.  I have heard from parents who don't want to be without it, even for washing. Washing however is a very important part of keeping your sling going. Spot treat small things but be sure to rinse out all spit up, soap and other spills. Body fluids and sunlight are really harsh to fabric, another thing that really shortens the life of your sling is the dryer.  Through trial and error I, and some clients, have found that hanging the Rosado Sling to dry works best.  Hopefully you can trust our errors and avoid making the same ones.

To wash your sling (the very first thing after you know it fits) tie the rings to the ribbons inside the shoulder pad sleeve. To do this unbuckle the tail from the rings and reach your hand from the inside of the sling through the shoulder pad and grab the rings, pull them into but not through the sleeve and tie them tight to the ribbons (use a bow so you can get it undone). You can look at the pictures below.

Wash in cold water using your favorite gentle, color friendly soap with similar colors. Rinse well, spin...you know the program. When the cycle is over take the sling out and untie the rings. Pull the rings toward the inside so the sling is wrong-side-out. Now find a well ventilated place to hang it. I found that the rings fit over my showerhead and then the pouch and tail could drape over the shower curtain rod in our bathroom. With the fan on it dries overnight. When it is dry, turn it right-side-out by reaching through the pillow sleeve and pulling the rings all the way out. Now you can thread the tail back through the rings.  Make sure the sling isn't twisted and put the tail through both rings then over one and under the other. The tag should be showing.
